Mate, im not a big expert in this kind of thing at all, but i ll throw my opinion in because i know it pisses you right off when a lot of people read the post and dont reply.

You were planning a 7 month vacation and you have stayed 5 out of the 7 months? Thing is, i dont see you being able to travel back to Spain if your Visa has expired, if i were you i would just look at cutting the stay short by two months and if the emergency at home really is so bad then go back and forget trying to get the last two months in Spain.

But thats just me, im not sure what the ebst thing to do would be.

They won’t deport you if you are already leaving for a week. Chances are they will barely look at your passport and send you on your way to The States. If you do have any problems leaving Spain they might charge you a fee and tell you the amount of time you must wait until they will “allow” you back in. Most of the time they don’t even stamp your passport at all when you arrive in Spain. It’s much more laid back then you think. Don’t worry…its not the States. 😊 Hope this helps…just plan on coming back.

I suggest you go just step by step.

you have to go back to the US. Then at the border they will give you more info if you get a fee or something else and then you can think about coming back.

I know for EU citizens that that’s the case - not sure if it would be the same for a US Citizen - all the same, I wish you the best of luck.
