Hi All

Myself and my family are looking into the possibility of moving to Spain, not too sure where in spain,

My real question(s) is/are

I have many IT qualifications and about 15 years of experience, and I also have Electrical qualifications for domestic wiring installations (part P, for those of you who know) how do I get these recognised as Spanish quals… or do I not need to, I know the IT ones are universal, its more the domestic electrical.

Also my wife is a police officer, is there many (any?) ex-pats working as a PC in Spain. She is currently taking classes in Spanish in the hope of doing police work when we move

thanks for you input

hi i looked into becoming part of the guardia civil and policia in spain and here is what i found the CNP (Cuerpa Nacional de Police) The police body say its only possible for spanish nationalists to work as police here for the local police however it is possible for her to work for the national police which will be a bit more like her role in the uk until she qualifies as a national then she can become a local police officer i guess she wont be intested in the guardia civil if so let me know and ill pass on more info.

A big however is that even though she is a wpc in th uk this doesnt guarentee her of walking into a job the style of policiing here in spain is different of that in the uk and so be it the method of recruiting, new police officers are sent away like a base camp to learn the job, this will be a great opportunity for her to perfect spanish as you live at the camp temporarily, hope this helps and let me know hosw you get

Hasta Luego

I don’t mean to be negative, but I think that the biggest problem that she’‘’ face will be the “oposiciones”, which is in a world of its own for public posts.  You can find out more information about his from here:

http://www.policia.es/oposiciones/basica/2007/basica2007.htm?reload_coolmenus
Looking into this further I also found this:
(A) Falta firma en la instancia.
(B) Falta requisito de edad.
(C) Instancia fuera de plazo.
(D) Falta requisito de titulaci?n.
(E) Falta permiso de conducir B o B-1.
(F) No haber efectuado el pago de la tasa por derechos de examen,
haberlo efectuado fuera de plazo o incompleto.
(G) Instancia mal cumplimentada.
(H) Falta requisito nacionalidad espa?ola.

As for your electrical qualifications, you may want to start here:
