Hello everyone

Could do with your help please with what we hope is our last move !

We have been living for the past 6 years in southern France which is beautiful but snowy and cold in the winter !!  My husband tells me I misled him in the first place by promising the south of France was always hot so I have some brownie points to earn..

We are looking for somewhere inland but not more than about 3/4 hour away from the coast.  Would prefer a large plot of land with either a ruin or permission to build a single storey house.  This plot should be within walking distance of a village or somewhere that has a bar and restaurant and local commerce.  It definitely should not fall below 10 degrees C in the winter time please.

We have been looking - on the internet - at properties around Pinoso but what’s it like in winter time ?

All constructive help gratefully received.

Thank you.

To be honest I think that you had better head nearer to the Equator! even Torrevieja (its warmer on the coast) falls below 10 degs during the night sometimes during Jan/Feb anyway. I would think Pinosso is cooler and you may get some frost now and again. Anyway see if you get any replies from anyone actually living there. Good luck.

I don’t know about Costa Blanca, but I was on the Costa Del Sol in Jan, Feb, March, April.

It does drop down to below 10 degrees at night. During the day, expect temperatures in the mid teens. There will be sunshine, but I would say that it does rain on and off during the day. You will get clouds and then sunny skies etc.

Now, in February and March there were quite a few warm, sunny days with temperatures in the 20s and there were people laying out on the beach. However, I was quite close the coast, so if you are inland, I would expect it would be quite a bit cooler. Overall, it could have been warmer, but it was a lot better than where I would have been otherwise, so I wasn’t complaining.

I think the only place you will get consistent warm weather in Europe would be the Canary Islands maybe.

Sorry to confuse .... not as bothered by night time temperatures just don’t want snow and cold and damp that hangs around for days and days and ........  What we’re looking for are day time temperatures that don’t go below 10 degrees.  😊

always up to you of course, but if you want crisp days in the winter, does get a bit nippy during the night, but last winter (could be an exeption of course) was really mild during the day, in January having a few bevvies on the terrace and the sun temperature hit 35 degrees!!  Did get snow on Christmas Eve, but hey, I loved it and do know from local tells it has hit minus 8, but that was a million years ago.  Oh yeah…..we live in Granada province, very near Granada up in the hills!!

Good hunting!!

Tara for now

Why the Costa Blanca then? I have not been there, but from what I have been told it is totally dead in the winter.

On the Costa del Sol there is still some action in the winter. Most of the bars and restaurants in Puerto Banus and Marbella stay open all year.

We have two daughters who still live in southern France one of whom has MS so want to be within a sensible drive away.  The Costa Blanca fits the bill in this way.  Not bothered about being quiet - we do live in rural southern France at the moment which is absolutely dead in the winter !

Which part fo France are you in?

I’m in Montpellier, and love the bitter winter winds from the Mistral - When I stand on Pic St Loup with the wind blowing straight into you and you just feel so alive. Especially when you sit and think of all those people stuck in offices in London wanting to do what we are doing.

I am also from France, have been working for a French property agent, but now I am moving to Barcelona and can’t wait to find out about life there.
I would say that the Costa del Sol would be the best option for you - warm but quite lively even in winter as already mentioned before 😊
