Hello!

my fiance and I are due to move very soon to Granada to live and work there.  Can anyone give me any recommendations on a RELIABLE moving service which would not only move my house contents but my two persians as well?

Much appreciated.

I am shortly moving my stuff to Jaen and am using Britannia. They charged me ?3045 to move all the contents of a two bedroom house from just north of Glasgow. They are on the Internet.

Britannia were excellent when we moved to Granada two years ago. Possibly not the cheapest of the quotes we had, but they turned up on time and not a single item was damaged.

Where are you moving in Granada? I do alot of work in the area and know the area well.

Sorry, nearly forgot about the cats!

When Britannia were quoting for my mum and dad to move over here in June, they mentioned about assistance with pets, hovever, when we moved over, we flew the dog with us. My parents are planning to do the same, though they will be sending their two elderly cats ahead for me to collect from the airport.

I assume you’ve had them chipped and go pet passports and innoculations etc… etc… ?

Many thanks for your replies - sorry I’ve taken so long getting back to you.  We’re now firmly settled in a small village outside Granada called Lachar - with our cats too!!  We used a UK courier service in the end - excellent!  If anyone wants their details please feel free to contact me.

I will endeavour to keep in better touch in the future (only just figured out what my logon was!!  oops).

Hello to one and all and VIVA ESPANA!!!  We love it here!

Nice to hear you’ve settled in well in Lachar.

We live over at Castillo de Tajarja and I pass Lachar alot, especially since the new bridge has been completed at the back of the village.

If you need any help or advice on the locality, there’s a few of us here who are’nt far from you. So give us a shout if you need anything.

Wow!  you are near!  Thanks very much for the offer of help - we may well need it at some point!  Maybe we can all get together at some point?  It would be nice for my husband to meet some other brits who live here as he doesn’t speak much spanish.

Thank you

Sure.

If you’re already missing British voices - there’s a car boot sale at Moraleda every Sunday.

That’s good news - whereabouts in Moraleda is it and what time is it on until?  We might wander up there on Sunday - if we’re out of bed early enough!!

From Lachar exit by the new petrol station, head Malaga direction on the A-92 autovia.

Turn off for Moraleda and at the top of the slip-road, turn left over the bridge. At the roundabout go streight on.

Continue up this long straight road, which eventually bends sharply to the right, then to the left. There’s a junction here so head left again and there’s immediately a sharp right-hand bend uphill. Carry on up this road and you will pass a sign for “Indian Restaurant”, carry on going and you’ll see the car boot sale on your right.

I think they start setting up at about 10am and start packing up between 1pm & 2pm.

There’s an increasingly better selection of stalls each week, as word is getting around.

😊

Possibly not this weekend as I’ll be rendering my dad’s outbuildings. No rest for the wicked!!  😉

Will probably be one of the first weekends either myself or my wife have’nt been though. There’s usually a couple of good book stalls I like to have a look through.

There’s about 50 images on the “Current Project” page on my website jurdyr.

I’m looking at reorganising this page at some point because although I’ve reduced the images considerably, the page can still take a while to load up fully, especially for dial-up users.

My host’s seperate “photo album” facility only allows 50x images, which is pretty insubstantial, although I can upload as many images to the actual web pages layout as I want. Am looking at removing the “photo album” feature and changing it to something like a “PhotoBucket” or FileShack” link instead.

I like to use large images when possible, so people can see detailed aspects of our work, but have to consider the differing loading times and different speeds of my audiences connections.

As for adding some images of my rendering work, I suppose I could. It won’t be the most exciting of photos. We’re applying a cement render to the blockwork walls. The weekend after, we’ll then apply a coat of capa-fina (fine-coat white mortar).

I love working with the white mortars. Really easy to get to grips with once you’ve had a play with it and far easier than yeso, when using internally.

It sounds like you’re going to be very busy!  Good luck.  Hopefully we’ll meet up some other time - if you’re ever passing through Lachar, please feel free to stop by - if we’re in, we’ll make you a brew and show you round.
