does anyone know approximately how long it takes to get this document after the employer has submitted a request to employ an extranjero?

COMMUNICACION DE CONCESION DE AUTORIZACION DE TRABAJO Y RESIDENCIA) stamped by the Ministry of Labor (Ministerio de Trabajo y Asuntos Sociales) in Spain ???

I was told by the employer that they are waiting to hear from the gov. that there are no spanish natives that can do the job..then the employer has to ask for permission to employ me, and essentially they would have the documented listed above stamped…but how long can that take… ????????

Hi. Im going through the same process right now and hopefully getting to the end of mine. I have been waiting since the middle of December. I have done a lot of research on the topic. The wait time is normally said to be anywhere between 2 to 6 months. So be prepared for a wait if you have just started the process. Its not fast.
It seems though, most of the people Ive spoken to, 3 months is about the average length of time….give or take whatever depending on the province it was asked for in. This is the only information I have to go on. Its Spanish red tape, the length is always variable.

Hi all,

I went through this process last year. The timeline was:

Mid-June: employer met with the Ministerio del Interior to submit documents/request approval to hire a foreigner

Second week of September: employer received approval and had to send the letter to me in my home country

Once the employer signs for the letter, you have one month to receive the letter and get it to the local Spanish embassy or consulate in your home town, along with the necessary documentation from you (e.g., police record).

So in my case it was less than three months, but I know of other who have had to wait longer. A lot of it is luck of the draw…
