Hi there, before you make this commitment. Re think what you are doing. So many people come here with a Place in the Sun head on and go back in six months, because they could NOT find work. Unemployment is creeping up here in Spain. No body is buying property and the knock on effect is companies are not developing. Work in a bar? the wages here are bad. 5-6 euros per hour. And that’s if you find work.

I wish everyone who comes to Spain, all the best. But be warned.

tina1971 like any one where jobs are harder to com by now days with the slow down . 1 you need to be bilingual , like Uk we do have works for outher place that will under cut wages here to work
there is still jobs out there but you have to find them yourself as you know what you looking to do , you post here like sayying you want a drink , but a drink off what ?
your Sterling is very weak against the Euro ie you only get 400 GBP to 479 euros now adys
Its not all fun in the sun here , for evry good story you hear lot more bad storys here
My work take me all over the world now adays to make momey ..... World Economic Outlook is for a slow down wich the banks are not willing to give out Loans
In return people are not holidaying as much in spain . the day of the cheap cerveza at the pool side is gone and long gone ( the 80s do yourember )

plan you move well , when coming here
any help ask and sould be able to point you in the right way

I think your best bet is to make your own work.  Drive a van, sell stuff at markets, offer a service like pool-cleaning or something and if your Spanish is limited, work mostly amongst ex-pats until you get more fluent, but make learning Spanish your priority anyway.  The people I know doing well in Spain are mostly self-employed.  But consider why you want to come.  Holiday resorts are not as much fun when you’re not on holiday, and it’s surprising how the great weather gets kind of boring when you can take it for granted.

Perhaps you want to consider living near Gibraltar - there are all levels of jobs in Gib and you don’t have to live there - you can go in every day for work but live on the Spanish side where it is cheaper. It could be a good start until you pick up some spanish since English is Spoken in Gib, well sort of Spanglish really but anyway!
