Hello, my husband and I are returning to Spain with our (soon-to-be) two children in early September after 7 years of living in Los Angeles. I was in London for 10 years before that working as a journalist (I am originally from the Midwest) and will work in Madrid after maternity leave. Our reasons for returning are quite simple. We have no family in Los Angeles, I hate my commute and my company has finally agreed to transfer my job. My husband has also had patchy luck with work here. The weather is beautiful, but not much below the palm tree roots I’m afraid. Anyway, my questions are quite diverse. The first is, what are the bed sizes in Spain. We have a queen double-top that is extremely comfortable and perhaps has another 5 years on it. Does anyone know how the bed sizes compare in Spain. Not sure if it’s worth it to take it.
The second concerns education. My daughter will be starting public school in the fall near where my husband’s mother lives. My other child will be just a few months old (expecting really any day now). She can understand everything my husband says to her, perhaps better than me, but I would like to keep up her English. The second child will be even more of a challenge perhaps because he will have no English exposure outside of what he hears from me. How do you keep the balance and keep both languages going?
Thanks for any information.
