Just moved to Barcelona and am finally in possession of a residency card and social security number.  I have a job offer in the making, but don?t think I?ll have the contract in hand for a while.  Is it possible to apply for the SIP card with just my social security number?

I would doubt it - they will surely want proof that you are working and paying into the system.
