Advice needed in how to deal with noise abuse from a local bar.

We live in a residential area where there is a bar opposite our house which is part
of a urbanisation.

The bar has music playing very loudly from 8p.m until 12p.m which interferes with our viewing of TV.
We have to close all our windows & doors which is awful during this heat.We have to put the air conditioning on
& that is expensive.

The bar owner is taking liberties as last night the music went on until 1.10 a.m. & the later it got the louder the music
was.We believe his license is until 12p.m. only.The music is played outside with the speakers facing forwards.

All of us do not dislike music but wish that it was played at a lower volume.

Last night between 11.30 p.m & midnight we had to suffer RAP music at the loudest volume ever.
Before that we had suffered very loud zarzuela music.We are sure it would sound a lot nicer if not so loud.

The M.C in charge of the music has been heard to say ’ this is how I play my music & anyone who does not like it can get lost.

We have lived here over 5 years & for the 1st time we feel like leaving,unfortunately this is impossible financially.

Any advise would be appreciated

town hall but make sure you you have all the facts befor you hit them , get some foot off whats happen there , did you try to talk to them about the music ? and is it a spanish bar

If I were you contact your neighbours and find out if your the only one who cares.If your own your own, leave it alone.

Spanish timetable isn`t the same as the UK, 9pm is when most Spaniards eat, 12am people are still in evening mood, most sleep at around 3am.

So complaining about noise at 12am isn`t an issue for a Spaniard, its there country and if its what they do, you need to adjust or leave the area.

Spanish people will be the first to complain if something is annoying them, if nobody has confronted the bar owners, its because its not an issue.

I would find out from people there opinions before you proceed officially, as most bar owners no an important person within the council, you could make trouble for yourselves and alienate yourselve in the community.

In our little urb, children are playin in the square at 2am, people are having conversations with friends on the third floor balcony, dogs are barking and music is playing, thats why Spain was seeded 2nd in Europes most noisy countries.

Betty, you should call the police EACH AND EVERY TIME the bar plays too loudly past 12am (or 1am, I can’t remember what is considered “ok”). The police will in turn hassle the bar owner, checking their papers and licenses (liquor too). I think they may even schedule an inspection for some sort of decibel rating where they will check to see how loud the bar is playing music and if it’s within acceptable levels.

However, it won’t amount to a quick change. The police will encourage you to keep calling to complain. I suppose somehow the bar will get fines or a bad rating or something.

This problem has now come to an end.

The bar has suddenly closed down due to financial difficulties.

I appreciate all your advice & hope that in the future I will not need to use it.

i would still make a note and see to police and town hall as if new person come in it start all over again

the bar that i used to live beside , just got me drunk so i cont give out lol

Wow!  You mean there’s actually somewhere noisier than Spain?  Where - just out of interest?
Our village is utterly quiet for about 360 days of the year.  The other five are fiestas.
