hi! i need some help my father wants to know if he can gain his Spanish citizenship. both his parents are Spanish.

His mother was born and baptized in the Philippines, but her baptismal certificate states that her parents are
resident of Cadiz in Spain and also from that said document, the name of her grand parents both maternal and paternal were
indicated. we are fortunate enough to have kept a copy of her maternal grand parent’s marriage certificate. it was clear in that said docu that they were married in a cathedral in Cadiz Spain. My Father’s Mothers family went to ILOILO fr sPAIN TO WORK IN the sugar plantation.

His Father on the other hand, was born in Barelona Spain. but we don’t have any proof of these since we don’t
have any document as a proof. According to him he went here in the phil first in BACOLOD with his uncle and was’nt able to return to Spain bec of the CIvil war. before he died he was very concern to look for his sister who he’d left in SPAIN. his brother also came to the Phil. and died here. we have a copy of there old address in Barcelona. and a birth certificate of his daughter my dad’s sister that indicates that her father is ESPANOL. the birth certificate was registered in MANILA civil Registry around 1924.

my dad birth certificate on the other hand indicates that both his parent are FILIPINO, he was born 1930.

both of my grand parents does’nt speak English nor Filipino. only Espanol. my dad is fluent in Spanish, English & Filipino

Maybe someone can help me with the steps or where to start or what documents we need.

thanks so much! 😊

You must go to the nearest Spanish Embassy or Consulate and ask them. Things were not so easy already ... but now with the current crisis they’re much worse, even to get residency. Be prepared to waste an awful lot of time ... and money.

thanks faye for the reply. actually that’s what i told my dad. the process and the document verification will be hard. but theres no convincing him. he informed me that it is his father’s last request that he should acknowledge as a Spaniard.
are there any laws regarding Spaniard who left Spain and went to there territories?

Haven’t got the slightest idea ... a lawyer could answer that question ...
