Amazing that I can’t find this info searching on google!
Basically, two questions:

1) if i have my glasses and RX from the states and need to get new glasses here, what is the procedure? are glasses more expensive here?

2) if i’ve never worn glasses but want to get tested and get glasses here, what is the procedure? is it covered by social seguridad or do i have to go private?

so confusing!!!!!!!

I don’t know about the difference between the States and Spain, but the looking at the prices in Belgium, there are differences up to 40%.

For most folk you have to go to an opticians to get an eye test and glasses and it’s not covered by social security. I think the exception is pensioners. An eye test is usually free at the opticians and glasses depend on what brand you’re buying and what special offers there are. I recently bought prescription glasses and sunglasses (I’m far sighted) and the total cost for the two pairs was about 180 euro. I bought pretty much the simplest and cheapest I could get which didn’t look awful.

I use 3 euro jobs from the Chinese for out and about (where I might lose them - and have done) and use my presciption glasses in doors where I do most of my reading - cost about 100 euros.
