Hello.
I have cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and am blind and get around in an electric wheelchair. I have a recognized level of disability of 91% which was recognized by Comunidad de Madrid a few years ago now. My health card has run out and I’m British. My disabilities require specialist attention. What is a quick way to get a health card? I cannot work and my partner works weekends and he’s my carer . I’ve heard that marriage or civil union is a quick way to get a card. Is this correct? What us the procedure for each, and what exact documents are needed? My fianc?e and I are very worried and confused about this, as I need access to healthcare and we don’t have the money to pay out of our own income . I am registered already with a doctor and neurologist and have been for years. My health card just ran out this year.
Please reply. This is urgent
Thanks

Sorry to read of your situation - you do not explain the status of your partner (Nationality, status etc) However in the Valencia region Brits do have rights to permanent healthcare even if they are not full pensioners. I published an article a short while back which you can read online here

http://issuu.com/timadmin/docs/tim_feb13

see pg 14.

But the rules may vary in Madrid so you need expert advice of that regions system.
