What is the most reliable and fast broadband service in Spain (assuming you have the choice - hopefully I will, on the Costa Blanca, be in a position to make a choice of which way to go.  I depend on broadband to work and need something that won’t let me down, has reasonable upload and download speeds and doest cost a fortune to set up.  I’d really appreciate any thoughts on how to choose!)

Cazz,

I have Telefonica ADSL but live in Madrid.  It works and my download speed can be in excess of 2M and the upload of around 254Kb and I’m paying for 3M.  It generally works, however I do experience VOIP problems with regularity when trying to Skype or Messenger friends worldwide.  I would say that on average 2 days a week the VOIP isn’t worth using but it I don’t bother testing whether the problem is with Telefonica or with the international links.  Given that when it’s bad it seems to be bad for all my calls, I suspect it is Telefonica.  If I didn’t care about VOIP and just used text based internet the service would be fine.

Thanks for that feedback, and interesting to hear something at least partly positive about Telefonica!
