THE LATEST SCAM?
I recently read several letters from Brits (in the Costa Blanca freebies) complaining that their mobile phones had packed up and when they returned them to Carrefour they were all told that they cannot be repaired because ?They have water damage and must have got them wet? Which they denied but Carrefour would not budge.
My partner acquired an expensive Nokia N70 through Telecor (owned by Corte Ingles) which after several months of heavy use packed up. Telecor were very helpful and returned it to Nokia for repair ? Guess what ? They claimed it had got wet. Well the phone did not get wet (ie it was not dropped into a swimming pool or bath and it?s never used in the bathroom!)
Telecor are actually very supportive (as were Movistar/Telefonica who have offered lots of points to acquire another phone) and we have taken out a denuncia on Nokia. Who now say that getting wet could be ?Keeping it in a hot handbag and then letting it cool down and causing humidity? (i.e. Normal usage!)
Has anyone else been fobbed off by this ridiculous excuse for poor quality components??
We have used several Nokia phones over many years but perhaps its time for a rethink.
