I received my Spanish driving licence renewal last week - well ahead of expiry (March 8th) date. Yesterday afternoon I took the health check (compulsory) at a Centro Medico-Psicotecnico (Note not your normal health centre) which consisted of an eye sight co-ordination test and a chat with a doctor. If your eyesight is OK and you are alive I think everybody will pass. The bad news is that it cost 34 euros (probably varies in other regions) You need to take a photo as they attach it to a certificate which must be submitted to Traffico as part of the renewal process.

Follow up…............took the certificate I got from the Health check and the reminder letter from Traffico to the Post Office and with much administration (surprised?) they have sent off the papers from my new licence - this cost around 25 euros and he said be prepared to wait 3 months! (You thought the DVLC was bad? that for the Brits) the papers he gave me will cover me if I get stopped (as if!) as my licence expires early March.

Follow up to your follow up…. think your 34 euros was standard. I have gone to Trafico for my first license and a woman in the queue (another Brit) was waiting for hers to come and she applied in July - don’t hold your breath!!
