Hello,

I am actually aiming to be in Spain starting most likely in September 2008, where I will be joining my fiancee (by then, wife!) on her current Foreign Service assignment.

I had an initial and somewhat general question: does anyone know of the best resources for software development jobs?  In the States there is a profusion of headhunters, as well as sites like Dice.com and Monster.com; are there analagous ones there?

I am also highly open to independent contracting…

Thanks hypothetically and in advance,

Benjamin Haag

ben,

sorry i can’t answer your question directly, because i don’t live in spain. but i wanted to introduce myself because i plan to move to barcelona in sept of 2008 as well. what city do you plan to move to? madrid perhaps?

i have been reading a lot about moving to spain, and from what i have read, it is a little difficult for non-spaniards to find “real jobs” because they compete with qualified spaniards for those jobs. especially since spain has 10% unemployment, it can be difficult to get your foot in the door, unless you have connections or a very impressive r?sum?. but don’t let that discourage you. perhaps your fianc?e can find a lead to help you out.

personally, i plan to teach english. although not terribly glamorous, it appears to be a dependable job for expats. my background is in architecture, photography, and philosophy. i don’t image i will be very hirable in any of those fields. but i suppose i will see.

best of luck,
