Hi, guys! 😊

I’m in the philippines and my husband is a spanish citizen based in ibiza spain. We got married april 2005 here in the philippines, and that time my husband was not yet a spanish citizen. He got his spanish citizenship july 2006 and august 2006 i applied for a visa in spanish embassy here in the philippines. I had all the documents needed to get a visa except for the libro de familia.

My husband then applied for a libro de familia in spain august 2006. After a year of waiting we found out that our huge mistake was we didn’t report our marriage at spanish embassy after our wedding which was needed to get a libro de familia. So november 2007, they interviewed my husband to register our marriage there in spanish embassy in spain and completed the process of applying for the libro de familia.

As of now, we’re still waiting for our libro de familia and im almost losing hope with the whole process.

Does anyone has an idea how many months we still have to wait to get our libro de familia? ... I would appreciate it so much!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking time reading this… Hope you can help me guys!

Correct me anyone if i am wrong, but you only get a libro de familia if youv had a baby in spain, the marriage is added to the info in the book.

My friend also told me the same as what you’ve said but when I tried to apply for a visa, I was required to submit a Libro de Familia eventhough we don’t have a baby yet. I was informed at the spanish embassy that we can get the libro de familia after the registration of our marriage (we’re done with the registration) and when the baby comes we can just have the baby added on that same book.

Basically, the libro de familia will serve as a proof of our marriage and it is like the spanish version of a marriage certificate in a book form, that was according to the spanish embassy.

Thanks for your concern though… !  😊
