Hi All

Im a newbee with my first question…!

I would be really grateful for some answers regarding paying tax in Spain.

Im moving to Spain from the UK in September for the 9 month teaching English in a language academy stint…..like so many others Im sure.

However,im confused about what I will have to pay in Income tax on my earnings.
The monthly wage is 1000 euros gross starting in September and I will receive 9 months wages totalling 9000 euros.

Does anyone know how this wage will be calculated in terms of tax and how much will be deducted in tax legally per month?

Will I have to pay tax on all of it or is a certain amount tax free?

Cheers in advance.
Im grateful to any comments and answers to this.

If you are only here short term you will probably be better off staying in the UK tax system and declare it there.

See

SPANISH TAX (AEAT)

http://www.aeat.es

Mostly in Spanish but you can download forms (solictudes/modelos)

Thank you very much for your reply ROBI

Ill have a look at it via the translator.

Ive been doing a little research and think, because my job will stretch over two tax years I may be under the threshhold for paying any tax at all…does that seem right???(however I realize that I will have to pay social security contributions)
Im concerned that an employer may try and pull the wool over my eyes a little and I want to make sure Im contributing(and they are contributing)what I need to, so i am covered for health, sickness etc.

I didnt realize you could stay in the British system whilst working abroad.Im wondering if 9 months will be a little too long to stay in the British Tax system?

Ill certainly look at theses options.

Cheers!

Suggest you also research the UK tax site, there are special schemes available for those working abroad but not having actually relocated lock stock and barrel on a permanent basis.

You dont want problems later with pension etc.

You can probably still pay NI in UK as well but see their DWP web site or go and see them.
