Hi, I have been living in Spain for about a year and a half now and am looking into starting up a business. I have been reading about applying for residencia and have noticed that most of the information is centered around tax. What are the key advantages and disadvantages of being a resident in Spain? I understand the tax breaks and social security advantages but is there anything else I should be aware of? Thank you for any help you can give.

Hi John, If you have been living here full time for a year and a half you are deemed in law to be both a resident and a fiscal resident but you still have to do the paperwork! Now is the time to do a Declaracion de Renta (tax return) to keep within the law.
