Hello,
First of all, sorry as my question is primarily related to France, not to Spain, and is probably a repetition of previous questions, but I can’t find the information I need anywhere!
I am a French citizen living in France. I have an Argentinian friend who is on holiday in France and nearing the end of his 90 days tourist visa (as per the rules, he didn’t need to apply for it, he got it automatically). He would like to stay for at least another 3 months to travel around France and Europe (including Spain), and eventually go back to Argentina in November/ December.
What options has he got?
- We have heard about various tricks, like going to Morocco for a few days, getting an exit passport and reintering the Schengen zone, and being able to stay on as this extends or renews the 90 days period. IS THIS A FEASIBLE OPTION? WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES CAN ONE GO TO FOR THIS?
- Just staying on and returning to Argentina from a Schengen country when he fancies (avoiding any border checks in the meantime- this does limit the means of travel one can use…) In that case, which country is the best to avoid trouble?
- Leaving France or other Schengen country that way, does he risk any penalties upon departure for having overstayed his welcome? (bearing in mind that most flights to South-America will be via Spain)
- - After the 90 days have elapsed, could he instead go to an EU, non Schengen country, and catch a flight to Argentina starting from there, without any risk of getting “noticed”?
I realise this may sound a bit complicated, but my friend is desperate to stay longer that the 90 days and yet is at the same time worried about the risks. I would greatly appreciate a prompt answer. Many thanks in advance.
