Hi
I’m moving to Spain in about year and a half and I haven’t decided the place yet. One of the places I’m considering (except for Valencia and Madrid) is Barcelona. What are my chances of getting a job there if I don’t speak any Catalan, assuming I speak good Spanish?
I will be looking for project management/coordination role.
thanks
Magda

Should be fine in general, also if you know Spanish, you’ll prob find you pick up Catalan fairly quickly.

Have you read the other boards on here yet, especially the “lifestyle” one containing a very interesting thread from, i believe gabriel about what seem to be very negative attitudes towards those who do not speak catalan ?

I agree with carefreebrit - my wife is Spanish - she used to live in Barcelona and she recently visited - all of the shops insisted on only speaking Catalan (which she can speak) and not Spanish - she told them this is one country and we speak Spanish but they were not happy. Also a Spanish friend of hers could not find work (qualified accountant) because she does not speak Catalan - they are very parochial.
