Can anyone help me with this baby grant.
I was told after having my little girl that I could claim the 2500 euros baby grant.
In the costa blanca news it said as long as you had been a resident (with an n.i.e.) and lived in spain for two years you could get it.
So off I went to the local office with my forms (I should let you know my spanish is not that good so i got some help from my local town hall to fill the form out)
They accepted my forms and told me I would hear from them in a few weeks, and to my surprise two days ago I had a call from them. They said i had a number missing from my original n.i.e. document and as soon as I let them know, what it was, my grant was on its way…great news.
so to verify the call, as i`ve said my spanish is below par I went to my local town hall to ask if they would clarify what the problem was. They told me it was a number in my original n.i.e. document that was needed, then i would receive my grant…great news my spanish was obviously improving.
so I returned to the town hall, all smiles with my docs, they called on my behalf to give my details. Then we found out that where I was told to write my passport number in, I should have put my residencia number. Which i do not have. I was told that these days there is not much point and was informed by all local english speaking newspapers and my local gestoria that residencia is not required to apply for this grant
Now the town hall have told me to go to benidorm police station to get this.
First of all, do I need one? as it only stated that you have to live here in spain for more then two years, no residencia required or, secondly, is it a case that i get my residencia and I am told that they can not pay out the grant as the residencia is 2 days old and clearly haven`t been a resident for 2 years because of this?
Stumped as always with spanish politics….Please does any one have any ideas,
maria..
