When our resident permits expired we complained about the Certificate at the time it was issued especially since the second line states that it is not proof of identity. We were told by the lady who issued it that if any shop refused it when making purchases with a credit card we should insist on talking to the boss and have him call the Ministry. Ha, Ha. Since then the following has occurred - I had to send copies of my passport to renew my driving licence because the D.G.T. does not accept the Certificate and worse still, my husband today went to renew our Tarjetas Sanitarias only to have both the Certificate refused AND our passports because they do not prove we are residents.

As far as we are concerned we have been left undocumented by a country that insists that we call carry i.d. around with us. Who do we make an official protest to. This situation is unacceptable.
