Hello there

I have been reading your website and it has been very helpful. However I am still a bit confused as I have been told so many different things and also read so many different things.

I would be very grateful if anybody could answer my questions below

I am from London EU Citizen and would like to move to Spain for a year to learn the language and work in 2 months.

1) Do I need a NIE card in order to work and open a bank account?
2) Do I need a permanent address before I can obtain a Residence certificate?
2a) If I don’t need a permanent address, then could I take a 3day vacation to Barcelona and sort all of this out before I go to stay in April?
3) I plan to stay in a hostel for 3 weeks (in Barcelona) on arrival, if I find work straight away can I start legally without having a NIE number and a Residency certificate.
4) If I need these documents before I can legally work will I have to wait weeks for them to be processed without a new income coming in?

Like I stated above I have heard many different things. My Spanish friends tell me I dont need anything, just my passport, but I don’t think this is true. (PS All my Spanish friends are in London, so they can’t help when i’m out there)

Nie is need in spain , its like you uk tax Tax Number
back account can be opened with passport

1)Is there anything I can do here in London to speed the process of obtaining a Residence certiicate & NIE Number, or do I have to do absolutly everything upon arrival in Barcelona?

2)How urgently do I need to obtain the Residence Certificate and NIE? Should it be one of the first things I do on arrival?

yes you could go to you loacl Spanish Embassy but told you should do when you get here as there problem with Embassy . Have pm you
