Hi everyone,

I’m a newbie and unfortunately not an expat enjoying the wonderful world of Spain….. but my parents are.

What I wanted to pick your brains about was - I have sorted a trip over to see them for a long weekend, my Dad knows but my Mum doesn’t. They live in Calpe and I will fly into Alicante (about 10.30pm). I am trying to find a good reason for my Dad to take my Mum to Alicante for the afternoon and evening so we can jump in a cab when we land and go suprise Mum.

They are both in their 60’s so water parks and nightclubs aren’t going to appeal, but I wondered if any of you who live in Alicante, or have been there, can give me some good suggestions. I’ve had a look and found the castles and parks and restaurants etc but they will have to be there until at least 11 o’clock at night (on the 15th April) so any other ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated to help make this a big suprise!!! Also, if there are any special events on that date or offers that I could send them as a good reason to trick my Mum into thinking she’s just having a day out!

What a lovely surprise for your Mum!

I think Jurdy is right, a nice restaurant evening will pass the time in slow Spanish style and central Alicante is just a short cab from the airport for you to surprise her.  They could do the castle in the afternoon to work up an appetite!
