I recently bought a second hand Suzuki Gran Vitara. Last week I went to the new trafico in Malaga to present the papers to change ownership. I have done this many times over the years but was surprised to find that the paperwork has changed since I last did it.
The main form which both buyer and seller must sign has changed slightly. The old one was called “Solicitud de Transmisi?n”. The new one is now called “Notificaci?n de Transmisi?n de Vehiculos”. The main important change for me is the introduction of the “Impuesto de Transmisiones Patrimoniales”. According to Trafico, this impuesto must be paid direct to the main Hacienda office of your region, in my case Malaga.
Of course, this tax may have been around for some time, as it is now three years since I bought my last car. If my memory serves me right, I think the seller did the transfer and paid the costs. Has anyone gone through this process who can advise me on the routine for paying the tax to the Hacienda. I have tried to ring them but they obviously don’t talk to the public on the telephone. As I live around 45 mins away from the Hacienda I want to make certain that I have everything ready before arriving to pay yet another tax.
I would appreciate any advice that anyone can give who may have recently done this, and of course, any comments to make the process as smooth as possible.
