Hi, Since September 2008, I do live with my family of three in Alicante. We did decide to settle down at the Costa Blanca, but we did not really know where, so we did rent a place in Alicante in order to look around. After having done this, we are having a closer look at Altea, which seems to still have the character of a a Spanish pueblo, but seems to be quite organized and not to far from a bigger city. Since making contact or friends with Spaniards seems to be very difficult, we are looking for a place with an important expat population. I am from Switzerland, speaking English, German, French and some decent Spanish. My wife is Filipina (English speaking, but she learns Spanish)
Important to us is a good public school, being near to shopping, markets and Restaurants, and also not to far from the sea. I am retired and we do not need to work for a living.
Thanks for a possibly feedback, Iwan

I love J?vea, is near the beach, big expat popuilation, close to Altea/Calpe/Benidorm, in the middle between Alicante and Valencia.
You find there some very good English schools.
House are mostly in “absubia”, so not appartments, but villas and houses.
And it is the second healthiest city of Europe.
