I need help.
I’m an American, my boyfriend is Scottish and our two cats are Thai. We’ve been living in the Land of Smiles for three years now.
We knew it wouldn’t be forever and always planned on going to a country (like Spain) that would allow us to easily import our cats and go through the procedure of getting their passports sorted. Thailand is not a PETS listed country, or we would have already done so.
The political unrest here has made it impossible for us to stay and we are running out of time to find work in a more animal-import-friendly country. It looks like we might be forced to the U.K.
A friend of mine tipped me off that Spain might be an answer because of a possible loophole with vets only sending in blood work of animals that have had their rabies vaccines but aren’t chipped instead of chipping them and then starting the vaccine process over again (which takes six months) I don’t know if this is true or not, but if anyone can find me a vet that will, I’ll gladly spend the 21 days or whatever waiting period it is for the test results to come back in Spain buying you lots of beer.  I mean a LOT of beer.
If anyone knows of any way, ANY way at all to help me keep my cats with me and get them paperwork (even if that takes time after the fact) please PM me.
I know this sounds stupid, but I’m amazed at the laws. Seriously. I’ve got documentation that these are two healthy, desexed, vaccinated house cats signed by the Ministry of Agriculture, and yet the U.K is treating them like lab rats carrying the black death!
Spain has no problem letting us bring them, but by God if we get on that ferry, someone is going to jail or worse!
