Hello All!

My name is Eric, I’m from San Diego, CA. I just graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and wanted to live and travel abroad before I settled down anywhere… I have a intermediate grasp on Spanish, and want to become fluent… so Spain looks like a pretty good choice 😉.

I’m a Polish citizen, so I don’t have to worry about any type of work visa, I’m looking for any type of job pretty much (besides telemarketing). However after spending much time writing applications for work it seems like finding a needle in a haystack. I was also thinking of getting a engineering internship but I wouldn’t even know where to start with that.

Does anyone have any suggestions??! I am pretty determined to do this so I was even considering just buying a ticket and going, finding a couch to crash on through couchsurfing.com, and just searching the city for a job…

Thanks!

Eric from San Diego

Hi, I live and have worked in Seville for more than 3 years now, I say “have worked” because I was made redundant 4 months ago. The work situation in Spain, is not good, the worst or one of the worst in Europe, Andaluc?a is the worst in Spain. I don’t want to sound negative but I think you should know the picture.

Finding a job is difficult if you don’t speak the lingo, I have been in Spain for many years and my wife is Spanish and a teacher, my Spanish is not good enough for some people, your first priority is to improve your Spanish, (I’m saying this to myself as well) because employer will only remember you if you can conserves fluently with them.

Do you have any skills? I got my First job, here because of my work experience and knowledge. I also met some people how where doing the same type of work and thats how I got a job, so you need to met people and make friends.

let me know how you get on
