I’ve been working with an autonomo (unofficially) during my studies here in Spain, and now that I am finishing my degree we would like to work together formally.  Does anyone know where to find information regarding:

1.  Work permit for Non-EU national salary requirements, fees, paperwork generalities.
2.  Rules for an autonomo to hire foreign employees in spain, or if it requires starting a small business and what that might require of us.

I appreciate so much any info you might have, going soon to the dreaded immigration office!  arg!

n finn,
how long have you had your student permit? did your prospective employer make at least 30.000,00 euros last year as reflected in his tax declaration? is he up to date with his social security payments?

Hi aritz,
One year student permit.  He has only been in business six months, so definitely not 30.000 euros.  He pays social security monthly and is up-to-date.

Any conclusions from this?

Cheers 😊

n finn,
if your prospective employer made a tax declaration of at least 30.000,00 euros, to be safe 40.000, he can apply to hire you and you may be given a residence and work permit, if not look for another one or wait and renew your student permit until he makes that money.
if you have been here less than three years, the job that can be offered may be limited to the ones in the “cat?logo de trabajo de dif?cil cobertura”.
the rest of the requirements are easy to meet and affordable.

n finn,
you’re welcome. remember, just be a student for another two years, meanwhile look for a better employer or wait till he makes enough money to avoid having to go back for a visa and be limited to the catalogue.  the law on aliens wil change after summer and in autumn the implementing rules may be more restrictive. good luck though.
