Hello,

Me and my husband are moving to Spain this April. I’m very excited about our move and new life I will have there but have a lot of worries about finding a job there. Firstly because of language barrier of course. But, as soon as I’m there I start with super-intensive course so I hope to come to some good level soon:)

My other concern is about the accreditation of my diploma. I’m B.Sc. chemical engineer, here in Turkiye we have 4 years of program for chemical engineering. It’s similar to American system. In fact it’s an ABET substantially equivalent program. But, as far as I know from my husband who is spanish, there are two kinds of engineering programs in spain, 3 year ones where you obtain “engineer” title and 5 year ones with thesis where you obtain “high engineer” title. I understand that second one is something like Bachelor+Master’s degree.

We applied in September for the accreditation to Educational Ministry of Spain. In the website of the ministry it says the application is being evaluated. My husband searched a little and found that there is no 3-year program for chemical engineering in Spain. So, my degree should be accredited as a 5 year program. But, I have a missing thesis and most probably missing courses, too, with that one. He said maybe they will let me complete those missing thesis and courses in a Spanish university, but we don’t know anybody who did it, so we are not sure.

Is there anybody who completed this procedure or know anything about it? Is it possible that they don’t accredit my diploma or will they let me complete the missing courses in a spanish university? If so, will I enter to any exam to be accepted to those universities and can I choose which university?

Any piece of info is appreciated.

Thanks very much,

Mine
