We have just driven down to Spain from the UK,  took the ferry from portsmouth to St Malo with a good nights sleep(  except for the crap pillow!
drive down was easy and took 9 hours to San Sebastion,  and we love the area.. spent the first night in the harbour town of San Vicente..loved it.. great M D D for 9 euro..Paella, then calamari, bottle of plonk then   as usual finished of with the best coffee in the world,  S V is wonderful( at least at this time of year)  clean and full of nice interesting building..impression:  Just like it was when we visited 25 years ago via yacht…clean.. low crime rate we are told..  wonderful mountains and sea vistas.and spiffing weather!!so far….then the fab wine and food…,  this is a short 6 day visit,  the agent could not arrange for us to see any houses( she was in the UK!  lots of excuses but we just had to leave..pity.  over in Cangas de Oris right now..  and again we love it..  full of wonderful restaurants,, roman bridges a clean clean river running through town and snow on the mountains….. off to see a house this mornin but not arranged..agents are not top of our list right now,,,  but no :for sale by owner” places so far….surely an opening here then using agents only for the paperwork?
