Hi all,

I am Canadian and have been in Spain since Jan 2008 as a student.  I finished my first program earlier this year and am taking another course which enabled me to get a new student visa that is is valid until August of 2010.

I have been approached by a small company in Barcelona that would like me to do some consulting work but I would have to bill them through a company or as an autonomo.  Is it possible for me to bill them as an autonomo with my student visa??  If not, I will have to register a company (in Canada, US etc.) and bill them, but would there not also be a chance of legal issues?  That is to say if the Canadian corporation bills the Spanish company, the work was performed by me in Spain…or is there some way around this?  I haven’t been a resident of Canada for 6 years, and previously I was in France for 4 years with a carte de sejour (which has expired).

Any thoughts on my case would be greatly appreciated!

Saludos,
Matt
