We are a family of 4 (2 girls ages 9 & 12) from Wyoming, USA arriving in Madrid on Jan 16, and hope to stay in Salamanca for 4-6 weeks, then move on to somewhere else in Spain for another 6 weeks. We have never been to Salamanca. Most maps show an arc, or horseshoe of streets that surround the city center that contains the Plaza Mayor, etc. We feel that being inside that “horseshoe” would be key to living in the heart of the city, where we could walk to most places, including a language school and a market. None of us speaks Spanish very well (that’s the point of the trip!) We are seeking any and all advice about Salamanca, particularly resources for renting an apartment. We’ve heard there is a bus directly from the Madrid airport to Salamanca. We don’t plan on renting a car except for possible weekend excursions. Thanks for any advice.

Salamanca is a wonderful place. My wife and I visit twice a year. We stay outside the city walls just opposite the Puente Romana (Roman Bridge) its about a ten minute walk into town. It will be cold this time of year ! (infact very cold !). We always stay in a hotel so can’t really help you with accomodation but a quick google search should bring results. ENJOY.
