my father died 20 years ago in spain, I have lost his spanish and british wills where can I get a copy in spain and how do I get my fathers small house registered in my name?
Dear Roger
You need to get a certificate from the Spanish Last Will Registry to find out who is the notary who legalised your father’s Spanish will. In order to get that certificate, you need to get a death certificate First.
Once you have the death certificate, the last Will Registry certificate, and the Spanish will, and of course providing your father appointed you as beneficiary of his estate, you will have to sign a document at the notary accepting your father’s estate. That document will have to be registered at the Land registry as well (although the registration is not compulsary, it is advisable to get your title deeds properly registered).
In case you need any legal assistance, we would be more than happy to assist.
