What is the rule about not traveling while waiting for your NIE appointment? I’m a US citizen marring a Spaniard May 22, 2010. We have done all the legal paperwork and made my NIE appointment for August (in Asturias we have to wait 3 months). We were told we aren’t allowed to leave Spain. Don’t people go on honeymoons? What is the reasoning about not being able to leave? I was told if I leave to go back to the US I won’t be allowed back into Spain, even after we are married.
Anyone have more information on this?
