I am offering yoga classes for children starting at age 4 (may open up to 3 year olds depending on interest. I am an American Occupational Therapist who has practiced yoga for many years. I began using yoga with children while working in New York City two years ago. As a therapist, I am keenly aware of children’s developmental needs and yoga’s powerful influence on health.
There are many benefits of yoga for children:
- Physically, it helps with flexibility, coordination, and helps the child better understand and control his/her body.
- It helps develop imagination, and environmental awareness. Through the various postures inspired by animals (dog pose, tree pose, snake and lion to name a few), the child connects with nature through his/her imagination.
- It?s a fun, physical activity in a non-competitive environment
- It helps promote self control by asking the child to maintain postures, breathe properly and concentrate
- It helps teach the child to relax and how to breathe properly, thus helping relieve stress.

Does my child need to know English? Our experience with multilingual families has shown us that children easily incorporate into new languages. This workshop is directed towards bilingual children that need to reinforce their English and Spanish children who are learning English to help familiarize themselves with the language.
