I have my retirement visa, and am moving to Spain mid June…what documents must I have when I go to the local authorities to register. I am ESPECIALLY interested in how strict they are in asking for proof of medical insurance. I have medical coverage here via full coverage Medicare in the US, which will cover me for all emergency care for 3 months to begin with. WIll I need to acquire hospital insurance BEFORE I arrive or can I get through the NIE process without an International Hospital card. Also, is it easier to wait (and perhaps less expensive) until I get there to find insurance.
