I’m looking to move to the Canary Islands next year (2010) and require a super reliable and fast (Ideally faster than 7 Mbps) internet connection in order to trade futures on the US market from my PC.  I’m hoping this is a good forum to get me started as I investigate the possibilities and HOPING that this is indeed possible !! ??  Speedtest.net is a website that shows internet speeds in the Canaries average about 4 Mbps .. Can I not get anything faster ??? ANY help MUCH appreciated !! Thanks !

It depends on where you live but 10 meg ADSL services are available.  Have a look at the Telefonica pages.

Hi
We live in the campo on Costa del Sol and can only get Broadband via Satellite, no land line no mobile coverage. Satellite is fast and not cheap and I think that if you can afford it you can have as fast as you want via satellite just costs more. see tariam as they do ours.

Thanks so much for your input everyone.

I’ve arrived now so I’ll let you know how I go…

Everyone says that fast connections are possible, but I’ll believe it when I see it ...

Don’t suppose anyone can forward a link to a map showing where the telephone exchanges around Las Palmas are?

Thanks again !
