One of the regular subscribers to this forum goes under the name of ‘satandpcguy’

You could hang on and see if he comes up with a response or you could take a look at this page from his website.

http://www.satandpcguy.com/Site/sky_satellite_default_transponder_frequency_settings_costa_blanca_spain.php

Although it refers to the Costa Blanca the content should be good for the Costa Tropical also.

DSB; I beat you to it!

Its not really SPAM in his case, because he does provide relevant information on a wide range of technological matters unlike some of the other cheeky bu**ers who just use the site as a dumping ground for all their crap.

btw you spelled his username wrong…!

You can change the default transponder on a sky box to help the box boot up.
When booting up, the box downloads all the information it needs to from 11778.
This is the main frequency that carris the full 7 day programe guide.
But if you cannot receive that frequency (its weakest at 5pm), then you can choose any other frequency you know you can receive - ie most of those on the south beams, such as 12129V, 12207V, 12051V, 11954H
All these carry a small amount of data that the sky box can use to boot up.

There is no “best” one to use. And the box will revert the DT back to 11778 after boot up - this is normal. Changing this frequency does not increase reception of channels, it is just used to boot the box up.

If, after doing the process, you get the date and time on the screen, then the box has found the signal and will do the doanload, and after a few minutes, the info banner at the bottom of the screen populates with the dta (although you may still not be able to receve the actual 998 channel, the info banner will be populated)

Sometimes you have to unplug the digibox from the power and wait for 30 seconds before you reapply the power, then boot the box up.

And if you leave it over night, then it may be able to aquire the 11778 frequency and all will be working OK in the morning.

If you do nt get the date and time, then there is something else wrong, like bad connection, or LNB issues, or receiver issues.

Although sometimes changing the LNB for a better one may help - I know people in that area who have upgraded to an Inverto Ultra Back (becareful as there are a few other makes / models that are similar but not the same - make sure it is an Ultra Black)and reception is better than it has ever been.
