I’ve had no luck contacting anyone at the Spanish Consulate in London about this so far. My husband and I were married in Prague and we will have our marriage cert translated into English and stamped with an Apostille. As we are moving to Spain we are arranging for it to be translated into Spanish. Does anyone know if the translation itself needs an Apostille from the Czech Republic? Can we simply have the English translation tranlated into Spanish here in the uk and if yes what kind of certification does it need? Thanks so much, I hope there’s some sun left in Spain by the time we get there.

As I understand it, an apostille is only for the original document itself, not for translations.

For the Spanish authorities, what about translating the certificate directly from Czech to Spanish? As I’m not sure a second translation of the first translation would be valid.

Here’s a list of official sworn translators in Spain (including Czech-Spanish), and here’s some more information on sworn translations.

Thanks so much! We’ve decided to get the Czech certificate translated into Spanish in Prague before it’s sent to us but it saves a lot of time and money if we don’t need to worry about the Apostille. Great, and thanks again!
