Hi Everyone: I am currently trying to fill the requirements for a Non Lucrative Residence Visa for Spain, however, I encountered an item that is very unclear, it refers to the International Health Insurance Requirement.  My question is: for how long I should buy this Insurance?, my travel agency in my home country offers insurance from 30 days to a year, but being so expensive I don?t want to sign a contract for a year and then take the risk that the Visa will be denied.  Also, I heard rumors that the Extranjeria office in Spain may only honor a Spanish Insurance Company?  Perhaps obtaining a short term insurance from my travel agency and then obtaining a permanent insurance once I arrive in Spain is the prudent thing to do???  Will this be accepted at the Spanish Embassy??? Any recommendations???  This forum has helped me so much in the past that I don’t know what I would do without it!!

Hmm, I’d go with whatever carries the most authority for the Spanish authorities. So, that’d probably be sanitas. I think they have a couple English speaking agents, see our health insurance page. Also check out Goodhealth on that page.
