Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum, have been reading posts and articles about Barcelona for the last week or so.

I am close to getting a job in Barcelona, and am researching all I can in terms of lifestyle, culture and where to live. My job would be at Poble Nou (from what I found on a few maps), quite near the Plaza de les Gl?ries Catalanes. What would be good places to live? I’d like somewhere close, maybe a 30 minute walk. I don’t intend on having a car or anything, and will most likely rent a studio/1bedroom. Rent would preferrably be around 700 euros, less if possible…

*IF* I could choose, I’d prefer a more cozy/homely location, but I know that may not be possible considering location and price restrictions…

Anyway. Please help if you can. =)

While I’ve never permanently lived in Poble Nou, my family and I stayed there on vacation back in April. We found it to be a charming place, with great beach and city access.  The little Rambla Poble Nou was great w/ restaurants and little shops.  I hope to possibly move to BCN in the future and Poble Nou is on the short list of possible neighborhoods! Good luck!

I’ve read bad things about Poble Nou in a website, but second opinions are always welcome! =)

Beach access isn’t really huge for me, since I’ve lived in a beachfront apartment in Brazil all my life and never really cared much for it… 😉

Anyway, thank you very much for your thoughts!

Camilla did you see the big long post on where to live in Barcelona yet? There’s a lot of districts covered in that. Sagrera is nice too. Eixample Derecha is good if you can find the right part of it (some of it’s kinda deteriorating).

How old are you?

Yes I did… I got a good idea from the areas there, but I wanted a better idea based on distances to the job… =)

I am 22, and don’t care much for partying and nightlife (thought that might be important to state while looking for a place to live. =D).
