Hello expat community!

I will be joining you all in the Spainish adventure soon.  I am 31 yrs. old, currently living in Atlanta, GA.  I have one interview set up and plan on staying in a hostal for a week or so until I figure to the rest.

I am looking for ANY kind of help re…..hostals, ESL teaching jobs, rooms for rent, fun places to hang out and network.  I have recently become TEFL certified and am looking to freelance and stay 3-4 months.  I do not have a work permit, so this should be interesting to say the least.

Thanking you in advance!

Sumayyah

Welcome Sumayyah,

3-4 months is probably not enough time to find a job and work much, so I’m guessing you’ll be living off of savings? The fact that you have an interview already is pretty amazing though, how’d you score that?

Where in Spain are you going?

Hi,

Welcome to the beautiful city of Madrid! I would recommend that you look for a room to rent by the month rather than stay in a hostal, if you find a very cheap hostal there will be a reason for the low price most likely not a very comfortable bed and likely it’ll be in the red light district. If you want to run an address by me to check if it’s in a good area i’ll be happy to do that for you. Take a look at these site if you want to look for a room to rent.

Good luck with the job search…

Thank you both for the feedback!  I will look into the apartment to rent.  I also have been sending out resumes to ESL schools for freelance jobs.
