So I want to apply for my NIE, because I’m tired of being invisible. The irregular situation part? Does me being here on a tourist visa, not yet expired, but just not wanting to leave count as an “irreguar situation”. I mean, why am I here? what fo I put there? I’m just here, I like it, and plan on staying. Can I still get my NIE without a concrete work or study situation?

Thanks

We have obtained many many NIEs for clients - we always check the Social box and enter Compra Vivienda in the Detalle del Motivo box beneath. We hand in the NIE EX-14 form plus copy, photos, and passport and they process it.

They have never asked about Visa etc

Whether this will work in your case I dont know.

However I also wonder why you want NIE - OK you want to stay but getting NIE may not make you legal (You dont explain your Nationality etc)

I think you are better off taking the totally legal route - check out more on visas etc:

Rob is right, but I can understand your desire to have an NIE too. There’s a lot of things you’ll need one for to integrate into Spanish life.

Just remember that there are lots of reasons why people would ask for an NIE without being resident or having a visa. The NIE people certainly won’t ask, nor even care what your legal status is.

Hi,
Here comes two very common reason to get a NIE:
1. Buy a car
2. Applying for work

Sometimes it makes the life more easy, there are no reason not to get it.
