Hi
What a long thread with such interesting stories.
Checkin - I do feel for you and think that perhaps it just wasnt your time the last time you went out but I bet you go back. Perhaps your husband could retrain in the UK to get the Spanish equivalent qualifications of a gas engineer. I am a recruiter for engineers in the UK and the skills are very valuable and I am sure this is the same in Spain. Had you ever thought of teaching English? I have heard this could be lucrative and you could study in the UK and do this in Spain if you go out again.
Luke07 you do seem very wise - I wish I had been like you at your age and got out of the UK when I was younger! We have 6 kids and the eldest 3 are all in jobs but have no chance of getting on the property ladder, and the eldest one is a policeman and he is horrified at the state of the UK crime and judicial system.
We have been planning our move for nearly a year now and still aim to go out in August with our youngest 3 children aged 12,13 and 16. I visit this site nearly every day and its brilliant to get real peoples experience and Checkin’s story certainly makes me worry that we are doing the right thing but I think, even it is turns out for the worse, at least you have tried. It takes real guts to change your life and guts to admit it didnt work and change it back so even though I am scared that it could all go wrong I think we have to try.
I wish you both all the best.
Also, if anyone else reading this could help us with our problem it would be great. We are moving out with our 3 children and the mother of 2 of them is trying to stop us. We have been told by the court today that we have to enrol in schools, secure jobs and a house before we can get the go ahead from the courts and we have to do all that by the beginning of June when the final hearing is. The mother is trying to insist that the kids go to International schools but we wont have the money, plus we all believe that they will be better in going to a spanish school as they all want to integrate in the local community, play footie with the locals, make friends and be part of the place but we know it will be touch. At the final hearing they could refuse permission so all that cost and work could be for nothing. We are planning to move to Murcia or Valencia and wondered if anyone else has ever had this experience with the courts? Probably the wrong place to start this string but I am not sure where else we should seek advice.
Any help, moral support or advice would be welcome.
