I am about to move to Marbella Spain but i have travel more than 15 times Europe and i know that allot of Americans are being harass by some Europeans regarding Bush and American Policy in Iraq. One thing is to learn a ignorant coment from someone that is trying to be disrespectfull to you and our country. I am very lucky i was born in Puerto Rico a U.S territory which is autonomous and runs like any other Latin American Country because its laws, culture, Language is Latin American. Amost all Puertoricans are proud to be Puertoricans but a are also very proud to be U.S Citizens and to be part of the U.S.  So I Dominate Spanish because it is my native tongue neverthless when i go to Hotels or i walk into a taxi and ask to pay with US dollars they turn to me and ask me if i am american i say YES!!!! I am Puertorican american and proud. They start first with the argument why Puerto rico does not become a Independent Nation i turn to them and i Say “have you visited our Neightbors and see the conditions they live” comparing it to us. They think we are obligated to be Americans i explained to them that for almost 55 years Puerto Ricans have voted closed to 8 times in Plebiscites to keep the Union with the U.S so we are Americans by choice. Then comes the Old Faithfull about Bush and the war and why Americans think there better than the rest of the world i try to avoid the subject but sometimes they due Insult me personally and i respond to them with Facts and Figures!!!!!!!!! and i also tell them that Spain was Puerto Rico’s Colonial Power for over 400 years and they were imperialistic and much worst than Americans. I also tell them that Americans have been able to construct a Country of Vast Wealth and Power and that is due that America is always reinventing itself to be better. If Bush is a Disaster next election another president will come and American Policy will be differently. Allot of Europeans are quick to point out American Flaws i always remind them about themselves and their history. In the case with Spain Anti-americanism in inbeded in the Spanish Blood so remember that Franco ally himself with Hitler and allot of Older Spaniards over 40 were taught by the Franco System that America is no freind. Now younger Spaniards are grewing up with a more Liberal view and United Europe that is not separated by borders and in that spirit everything that America stands right now with Bush they hate. In conclusion try to avoid the subject but if you can go straight to the Jogular with Facts and historical events also keep in mind there are people that you cannot talk politics with understand does who are prompt to get physical. Be proud to be American but also respect other views so your views will be respected.
