Hello all,
I have a question regarding visa issues.
I?m a US citizen, currently living in Spain with a tarjeta de residencia. However I’ll soon be moving back to the states, so I didn?t renew my resident status. It expires in mid-August, but it turns out it?ll be difficult for me to move before the end of August. However, I don?t want to overstay my visa and thereby risk not being able to get another European residency visa in the future.
So I?m wondering if it would work for me to leave the Schengen zone before my residency expires and come back as a tourist, thereby giving me 90 days to work with. For example, in a few weeks I need to go to Paris for a few days, and I could maybe fly to England first, and from there to Paris. Upon entering Paris, even if there are still a few days left in my Spanish residency, could I be considered a normal tourist entering the Schengen zone and therefore be allowed the 90 days? Or would I need to wait until my residency expires before re-entering?
Any thoughts?
Thanks so much,
Chris
