Hi, has anybody had a problem ordering some gadgets, not oversized electronics from outside.
I’m gonna order wacom graphics tablet - sort of a graphic pen for PC, which costs 300usd in USA, and here in spain 400+euros.
So my question is - will I be charged taxes for a product of this price once i have to pick it up at DHL?  what are the limits, and what are the taxes.
Thanks

Hmm, good question. You know I’ve had a lot of things shipped over the years and, with a few exceptions, managed to avoid problems with customs taxes for electronics. Your best bet is to have someone buy it back home (US?), then get them to open the box and make it look used. Then get it sent in a regular box.

Also check out the page on mail and shipping in Spain.

Yeah, thats what I thought about ordering to friends house and get it shipped as a used product.
If you order something directly from online store, they WILL include the invoice, etc.
And from my experience with DHL in russia - customs there include express mail cost in taxing as well (regular mail is fine).

what have you ordered - just examples to get the idea of a size and price, what’s arriving OK.
what about a camcorder??  digital camera? laptop?
any experience anyone?

there’s another thing i want to try to order like Whey Protein for gym. 10 lbs cost 69usd, here 2lbs cost 30euros, even with 40 usd shipping - thats a better price.

Thx!

I don’t really want to get into specifics, but after a couple years I gave up on trying to score a deal from the other side of the Atlantic and just went down to FNAC for all my electronics purchases.

Whey Protein is THAT expensive in Spain? Wow. There’s a new business venture for someone…
