Hello ~ I apologize for just jumping into your expat forum, but there seems to be loads of personal knowledge of Barcelona here.  Can anyone tell me if there is a liquor store anywhere near the Hotel Colon in the Barrio Gotico?  I’d like to purchase a bottle of gin before going on a cruise leaving out of Barcelona.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Where are you from? There are no liquor stores in Spain - you buy alcohol at all convenience and grocery stores.

I’m from Tampa Florida.  Beer and wine is sold in groceries and convenience stores here, but in order to buy all other alcoholic beverages, you have to go to a liquor store.  At least the ones here are open 7 days a week and they stay open until about 1am, although Miami-Dade liquor stores can remain open 24 hours a day.

Better than when I lived in Connecticut.  No “off-premises” sales at all on Sunday, and liquor stores closed at 8pm Monday - Saturday.

From your answer, I’m assuming that I won’t have any problem finding bottled gin for sale in the Barrio Gotico. Thanks.

Thanks so much for the information and maps.  We will be staying in an apartment on La Carrer de la Boqueria for a week after our cruise returns.  It’s good to know the location of convenience stores within walking distance of our hotel and the apartment.
